Wayne was born April 19, 1947, in South Glens Falls, NY, the son of the late Wayne and Faye Bruce.

Wayne graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He then enjoyed a long and storied career in law enforcement, most notably with the South Glens Falls Village Police Department, until his retirement in 2004.

Upon retiring, Wayne embarked upon a second career path with the South Glens Falls School District, serving as Truancy Officer and being inducted into The Bulldog Hall of Fame in 2014.

Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by one son, Todd.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Linda; children: Craig (Linda) Matuszak, Paul (Theresa) Matuszak, Michael (Lisa) Bruce, Trevor (Angel) Bruce, Kevin (Lorrie) Matuszak; grandchildren: Michelle (James) Matuszak, Kristen Matuszak, Emily (Jon) Conover, Alec, Andrew, and Elise Matuszak, Cory Culverhouse, Emma Bruce, Aurora Tufares, Tyler and Adalynn Schwartz, Joshua (Theresa) Fish, and Joel (Kristine) Fish. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; his sisters: Renee (Ed) Murphy, Kimberly (Peter) Nadeau, and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne was an icon in the South Glens Falls Community, holding memberships and offices throughout his lifetime in many civic groups and organizations, including the Eagles Club, American Legion, Moreau Community Center, Moreau Recreation Commission, the South Glens Falls Fire Department, and countless others. He was especially proud of his participation in school and community athletics as a player, coach, and umpire for many years. He will be greatly missed.

I am forever grateful to this man and the kindness he extended to me as a rebellious high schooler trying to make it through tough times. He was a beautiful soul who left lasting impressions on a lot of people. <3

My condolences to the family. As a young girl I worked at the So. Glens Falls Dunkin Donuts many years ago & one night had a run in with a not so nice customer to where I called the police & it was Beanie who came. He sat with me having coffee watching out while I finished my midnight shift. He was so nice & made eveything feel safe! Never have forgotten him over the years & that night. Thanks Beanie & may you rest in peace.

My condolences to his family. When I had my first job at Saratoga Race Course in the summer of 1982, washing dishes in the Clubhouse with quite a sketchy group of co-workers! My Mom knew him from Saratoga County Social Services and he worked security at the track. I was a teenager thrown to the wolves, and "a fish out of water". He would check on me regularly and made sure others were aware of his presence! -Just a fond memory of Wayne that stuck with me! He was a kind soul!
