Joseph Lee McNaughton
October 18, 1941 - June 19, 2025
Joseph Lee McNaughton was a loyal and loving husband, father, son, brother, stepfather, grandfather and friend. Born in Buffalo, NY, he lived in both New York and California. After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1970 as an operator on the nuclear cruiser U.S.S. Long Beach, he worked in power generation as a senior plant operator at several power plants: San Diego Gas and Electric, and SMUD and NCPA in Middletown, CA, from the early 1970's until his retirement in 2003.
As a young man, Joe was a successful competitive speed skater. He practiced roller blading as well as long-distance cycling throughout his adult life.
Joe's activities after retirement included ballroom dancing, nature photography, cycling, cooking and bringing joy to the family.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Catherine. He is survived by his wife Lisa (2006-2025), son Joseph, siblings Betty, Jim, Dan and Mike, step-children Lisa Renee, John Paul, Ximena (Julio) and Camila, grandchildren Megan, Joelle, Sebastian and Santiago, and numerous members of the extended family.

Joe became an honorary member of the interpreting family at the Sonoma County Courts after meeting our colleague, Lisa. I loved seeing them together and knowing of the beautiful love they shared. Soul-sustaining are the memories of such an affable and extraordinary man.
