Roy William Anderson

Roy William Anderson, age 88, of Santa Rosa, California passed away on May 7, 2025 after a short illness.
Roy was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Irving and Agnes Anderson and spent his childhood primarily in Sacramento, California. He served in the army and had fond memories of being stationed in Germany. He studied geography and city planning at Sacramento State and UC Berkeley.
Roy and his beloved wife Marcia made Santa Rosa their home since 1972. Roy had a long and distinguished career in service to the community of Santa Rosa, working as a city planner until his retirement, and proudly serving as a member of the Cultural Heritage Board.
Roy enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fine food and wine, model trains, and caring for the many felines he and Marcia adopted over the years.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Marcia, who passed in 2015, and is survived by his sister, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many friends who he adored.
Services will be on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 2930 Bennett Valley Road in Santa Rosa. Donations may be made to Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County.
