Steven Berg Obituary

Steven Frank Berg
May 7, 1948 - July 26, 2025
Steven Frank Berg passed away on July 26, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Oregon on May 7, 1948, Steve was the only child of Wilford and Marcelle Berg, and the beloved grandson of Charlie and Nambi Williams, all of whom preceded him in death.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Angela Berg Dallara, son in law Jim, and his grandsons, Jimmy and Dominic. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Kathleen Bruno, and her son Aron Bruno, whom Steve loved and considered family. He leaves behind his loyal cat Hal, who stayed faithfully by his side.
A graduate of Santa Rosa High School, Class of 1966, Steve began his career as a pipe fitter at Mare Island, later transitioning into plumbing sales where he worked for several local plumbing supply companies. Known for his deep knowledge of the plumbing industry, Steve earned the respect of his colleagues and customers alike. He also moonlighted and was a talented professional sign painter.
Beyond work, Steve lived a full and colorful life. He was the President of the historic Bennett Valley Cemetery and one of the founding members of The Lunker Zone, where his love of hobby fishing brought him joy and lifelong friendships. He was an avid collector of World War I and II memorabilia and a war historian, a loyal friend, and a man of eclectic interests. He won chili cook-off awards with his famous Rocket Chili, he created brilliant works of art, and had a love for hot sauce. Steve was a man of few words but so many hot sauces.
His sharp wit, amazing artistic talent, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He lived on his own terms and kept an unshakable sense of humor through all of life's twists and turns.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to be in his orbit. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

I knew Steve while working in the plumbing supply business. Really one of the all time good guys, intelligent, a great sense of humor and laughed a great deal. He was great to work with. Sincere condolences to friends and family.

I met Steve through Kathy almost 50 years ago. I will always remember his dry, yet spicy humor. The pic I posted was from New Years Eve 2018, in typical Steve fashion.
Rest in peace.
