Phyllis A. Bowen
March 29, 1931 - May 11, 2025
Bowen, Phyllis A. (GiGi Mom)- Phyllis A. Bowen (nee Johnson), 94, of Oceanville, went home to be at peace with the Lord and reunite with the love of her life, Delbert, on Mother's Day Sunday May 11, 2025. Phyllis was born March 29, 1931 to Lester and Thelma Johnson and was a lifelong resident of Oceanville. She attended Oceanville School and Pleasantville High School and later worked at James' Candy Company in Atlantic City. After Delbert came home from serving in the army during the Korean War, he and Phyllis were married on August 7, 1954 and began their beautiful 69 years of life together. Phyllis was a member of the Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Oceanville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing piano, sewing, knitting, watching tv (particularly the Phillies and her cooking shows) and the occasional excursion with her friend Irene Kester. Phyllis is predeceased by her loving husband Delbert N. Bowen (May 20, 2024); her parents, Lester and Thelma Johnson; sister, Charlotte Barber; brother-in-law, Earl Barber; sister, Madlyn Pierce; brother, James Johnson; her in-laws, Delbert and Marie Bowen; brother-in-law, William Leavens; niece, Linda Van Syckle and sister-in-law Barbara Bowen, along with numerous fur babies, the last being her beloved Chesapeake Otis. Phyllis will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Karen Cressey (Roy); granddaughter, Danielle Spada (Josh); great grandchildren, Ryan and Mia Spada (who made her eyes light up when they came to visit); her brother-in-law, Alvin Bowen (Kathy Peschi); nieces, Lisa Lee Taylor and Brenda Bowen; sister-in-law, Shirley Leavens and her extended family. A special thank you to the absolutely wonderful team at Ridgewood Senior Living for your love, compassion and care. Burial will be private. We ask that those who knew both Phyllis and Delbert have a cup of coffee with friends or a wonderful seafood dinner with family or simply a cocktail and have fun reminiscing over fun times spent together.
