Sharon Durrant Obituary

On the afternoon of July 23, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by loving family members and devoted staff at Heritage Home, Sharon Durrant peacefully completed her mission here on Earth and transitioned to begin her heavenly mission, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and quiet devotion. Sharon was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher whose kind heart, unwavering dedication, and deep love for others left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Born in Franklin, Idaho, to Orval Dean and Julia Shaffer Durrant, Sharon was the fourth of six children. From an early age, she exemplified a gentle and generous spirit that would go on to define her life. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sharon's life was centered on her faith in Jesus Christ, her service to others, and her deep love for her family, which brought her the greatest joy. She had the privilege of serving faithfully in numerous church callings throughout her life, including but not limited to Ward Relief Society Presidency, Ward Primary Presidency, Stake Relief Society Presidency, Ward Librarian, and as a member of the Daughter's of Utah Pioneers. Her most beloved calling, however, was as a Visiting Teacher and minister, a role she cherished throughout her life. Sharon's deep and abiding love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident in every aspect of her life. That love shone through in her words, her actions, and especially in the compassionate and tireless way she served those around her. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and selfless service will forever be remembered by those who were blessed to know her.

Although she never had children of her own, Sharon was a mother figure to many - lovingly guiding, uplifting, and caring for all who were blessed to cross her path. She played a vital role in the lives of her nieces and nephews, offering unwavering support for their individual dreams and pursuits. Whether it was a sporting event, recital, or school play, Sharon was always in attendance, cheering them on with her quiet and gentle manner. Many, if not all, of her nieces and nephews would agree that she became a second mother to them, guiding them by her faithful example, sharing in their joys and triumphs, and uplifting them during their struggles and heartbreaks. She made herself available whenever any of them reached out, offering a safe space to share hopes and fears and providing sage advice for every season of life. As they all married and had children of their own, Sharon continued to offer that same unwavering support, making each new addition feel heard, valued, and loved.

Sharon dedicated her career to elementary education, serving as a Resource Teacher at Oakwood Elementary. She was deeply passionate about her students and committed to helping them grow academically. Sharon's greatest desire was to unlock each student's full potential, tailoring lesson plans and strategies to fit each child's unique learning style. She taught with passion, patience, and love, always nurturing each student with the individual care and attention they needed to succeed. Sharon's impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom - she inspired and empowered countless children to believe in themselves and their abilities.

Outside the classroom, Sharon found joy in simple, meaningful activities, including reading, crocheting, going on walks with friends, spending time with her nieces and nephews whenever she had the chance, and doing family history and genealogy work. In her spare time, she could always be found serving someone in some quiet, thoughtful way-- offering help, encouragement and a listening ear to anyone in need.

Sharon is survived by her two brothers, Val Dean and Claron; her two sisters, Sharlene Hendricks and Claris LeFevre; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Durrant, along with 28 nieces and nephews and their growing posterity. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Darvel Ray, two sisters-in-law, Vicky Durrant and Esther Ann Durrant, one brother-in-law, Gerald Hendricks, and her beloved nephew, Brady Ray Durrant.

Sharon's life was one of quiet devotion - to her faith, her family, her students, and her Savior. Her loving heart touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for how she lived, but for how she made others feel - seen, supported, and loved. Sharon will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who supported Sharon during the past year through the challenging transitions she faced. Your thoughts, kind words, actions, and personal visits were a bright light in her life and brought her much comfort. A special thanks goes to the staff at Heritage Home, who quickly became an extension of her family, for their unwavering dedication in compassionately caring for her needs and providing a loving environment. The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff of Symbii Home Health & Hospice for their loving and attentive care during Sharon's final days. We know she truly loved each of you and would have taken you with her if she could have, instead, she carries a piece of each of you with her in her heart.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. in the Franklin Stake Center. Family, friends, former students, and all who were touched by her gentle influence were invited to attend and celebrate her remarkable life. Viewings were held on Sunday at Webb Funeral Home and on Monday prior to services. Interment was in the Franklin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to help Sharon's legacy live on by quietly serving someone around you. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
