Anna M. (nee Vajda) Kucik

Anna M. Kucik (nee Vajda), age 89, of Hobart, IN, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025, peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 23, 1936, in Kosice Slovakia to John and Anna Vajda. She moved with her family to Gary, Indiana, at the age of 12 after WW2. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Kucik, who she was married to for 50 years. Anna is survived by her sons: George (Lori) Kucik, John (Jane) Kucik, Mike (Shari) Kucik; daughter, Susan (Chris) Sobczak; brother, John (Linda) Vajda; 10 grandchildren: Angie (Eric) Vasquez, George (Maggie) Kucik, Kyle Kucik, Jennifer (Ryan) Peterson, Jillian Kucik (Jeff Talbot), Jonathan (Hayley) Kucik, Ryan Kucik, Jacob Kucik, Christopher Sobczak and Jessica Sobczak; 4 great grandchildren: Henry & Claire Talbot, Iyla Peterson and Emersyn Kucik.
Ann worked at Montgomery Wards for 10 years but dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a loving home. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and always grew the prettiest flowers and roses that you've ever seen. Anna always had a great passion for traveling the world, with Italy being her favorite country to visit.
Anna was known for her warm heart, welcoming nature and being devout to her Catholic faith and her Slovak heritage. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic parish in Merrillville, IN.
The Kucik family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and medical staff at Saint Anthony Majestic Care who provided comfort and care to Anna in her final years. Her grace and dignity remained intact as she courageously faced the challenges of Alzheimer's Disease.
Ann's gentle spirit, unwavering love and kindness touched all those who knew her.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. directly at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs North Campus, 801 W. 73rd Avenue, Merrillville, IN. Interment at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Rev. Steven Caraher officiating. Donations may be made in Ann's name to the
Alzheimer's Association.
