DONALD SCARSET Obituary

DONALD SCARSET 10/02/1944 - 07/04/2025 Donald (Don) Leonard Scarset, the son of Erwin and Isabelle (Goodhope) Scarset was born on October 2, 1944, in New Richmond, Wis. He grew up in rural Cottonwood County and attended school in Walnut Grove. After his schooling, Don worked and drove truck for various farmers in the area. He was united in marriage to Cheri Stellmacher on February 22, 1969, in Redwood Falls. His two sons, Shane and Jonah, were blessed to this union. He continued to work for farmers in the area. The couple divorced in 1978. Don was also married to Mary Resch on January 20, 1982, and Linda Whitaker on November 11, 2000. Both of those marriages also ending in divorce. Due to failing health Don was admitted to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester on June 15, 2025. He passed away there on July 4, 2025, at the age of 80 years and 9 months. Don enjoyed the open road in an 18-wheeler, racing cars, and working on anything mechanical. Survivors include two sons, Shane Scarset and special friend Kim of Mankato and Jonah (Lori) Scarset of Hector; grandchildren, Austin (Galiya) Scarset of Slayton; Chantel Scarset of Slayton; Lauren Scarset of Minneapolis, Isaac Scarset of Hector, and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Lydia (Heath) Johnson of Wabasso and Debbie "Star" Erickson of Fairmont. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers David and Ron. A private interment in Westbrook Cemetery will be at a later date.
