Lore Ruth Kiesel
"Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother"
Mrs. Lore Ruth "Oma" (Treichel) Kiesel, 96, of Woodbury, entered into the gates of Heaven on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in the comfort of her home. She was the widow of Johann A. Kiesel.
Lore was born in Danzig, Germany on March 31, 1929, daughter of the late Emil and Luise (Liedtke) Treichel. She settled to the United States and Watertown in April of 1957. She worked in Quality Control at Timex Corporation in Middlebury for many years until her retirement in 1992. More than anything, she cherished her family, both here and abroad. She always expressed her pride over her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Lore was so proud of her German heritage and loved to cook her cultural favorites for her family. She loved gardening, flowers, music, and playing the harmonica. Her 'sweet pea', Maria, was a cherished friend for many years that Lore loved spending time with. Born in Germany, her early teenage years spent in war torn Holocaust Germany forged who she was and who she became; a very strong, loving, and protective mom, who never asked for anything, but always gave everything and anything she could. One of her final wishes, "I want you to love like I have loved you"; was a testament to her nature and heart.
Lore leaves to honor and cherish her memory; 2 sons, Udo Kiesel and his wife Patricia of Watertown and Benno Kiesel of Cool, CA; a daughter, A. Lola Murphy and her husband John "Jack" with whom Lore lived in Woodbury; a brother, Lothar Treichel and his wife Ursula (Uschi) of Bad Schwartau, Germany; five grandchildren, Lauren LaPorta and her husband Joseph of Madison, Eric Kiesel of Watertown, Bria Szymanski and her wife Cynde of New Britain, Erin Morhardt and her husband Justin of Shelton and Rachel Raymond and her husband Benjamin of Woodbury; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Elise, Natalie, and Vincent LaPorta, Luca and Nico Kiesel. Lore was predeceased by 2 children, Birthe Szymanski and Edward Kiesel, and a sister, Gisela "Gila" Thede of Germany.
