Susan Elizabeth Garrett Wilson, age 82, of Cumming, Georgia passed away the afternoon of February 3, 2026.
Susan was born in Tampa, Florida and lived in Quitman, Cairo, and Gainesville, Georgia. Susan graduated from Gainesville High School and attended the University of Georgia.
Susan married Tommy Reginald Wilson in 1963 and joined him at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo Texas where she began a career in communications, branching into advertising, the arts, radio, real estate and printing. After four years in Texas, they returned to Georgia and lived in the Atlanta area.
Susan and Tom were married for 58 years until his death from Covid in 2022 and enjoyed sailing and spending time at Lake Lanier, gardening and antiquing. They both loved animals and enjoyed the companionship of two horses, and many cats and dogs, the last being dear Amelie.
Susan excelled at research and had a passion for genealogy. She researched her own family lineage and that of multiple other families helping gather information on historical deeds, birth parents and developed family trees. Her friends knew she was a highly organized and detailed person and would seek her out for research, including complex property issues.
Susan is survived by her sister, Mary Margaret Garrett of Clermont, Georgia, as well as numerous first and second cousins. Her parents, Margaret Bass Garrett and Frank Whipple Garrett and husband Tommy Reginald Wilson, predeceased her.
For those wishing to honor her memory, donations made be made to Furkids in Forsyth County Georgia, Best Friends Animal Society, the American Heart Association, or charity of your choice.
