Martin Filet Obituary
Martin lived a life of quiet, joyful heroism, delighting in music, learning, and the love of family and friends. Faced with decades of cancer treatment, he responded with optimism and an unflappable zest for life.
Born in the Netherlands, Martin moved with his family to Sacramento at age 4. He graduated from UC Berkeley, then pursued a lifelong career as a CPA. In 1987, Martin married the love of his life, Mary McDonald. He was an adoring father to Margaux and Nora Filet.
A celebration of Martin's life will be held Nov. 9, 12:15 p.m., at Vizcaya. RSVP to [email protected].

I worked with Marty in the 1974-1976 era when we were both helping kids learn how to enjoy the outdoors at Camp Sacramento. One central theme of Kids Camp was the oversight of `Watoe´, the spirit of good camping. Watoe was celebrated to be all knowing, all seeing, and watching campers for excellent behavior. All the kids just knew that Marty, with his quiet mysterious countenance, sly smile, and long dark hair, HAD to be Watoe. Marty never disavowed that belief and made camp fun for everyone, kids and staff. I am glad to shared that time in life with him.

Martin Filet such a great person. Looking back at CKM, he was one of those who always made me laugh and smile. At the reunions, always came up to talk and crack a good joke. What a class guy, we lost a great one and heaven just got a first class angel. Your legacy will live on in each of our hearts
