Paul Harrington Obituary
May 10, 1942 - May 21, 2025
Sacramento, California - Paul Michael Harrington (May 10, 1942 - May 21, 2025) was a Massachusetts native, the youngest of five, and a Boston University graduate. He later followed his sister Carol to California, settling in Sacramento, where he worked in the Rio Linda School District for 38 years as a teacher and principal.
After retiring, he and his wife, Sharon, traveled the world together. Most recently, he traveled to Algeria with his daughter's family. Paul was rarely without a book or crossword and had a deep love for good food. He was known for asking what was for dinner while still eating breakfast and declaring, "The bed is going to feel good tonight" after a satisfying meal of spaghetti, wine, or chocolate cake.
Paul is survived by Sharon, whom he famously wooed with, "If this rain keeps up, it won't come down." They were married for over 55 years. Together they had his Favorite Daughter, Ame Harrington Pickens and his other Favorite Daughter, Meaghan Harrington Djerroud, both of Sacramento. He leaves behind sons-in-law Aaron Pickens and Saadi Djerroud, and grandchildren Oscar, Tallula, Roscoe, Aksil, and Kenzi. His loss is deeply felt by nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Paul built a rich life and a loving family in his 83 years.

A celebration of life will be held on June 13, 2025. Please contact the family for details. Memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice.

Ame & family,
I was so sorry to hear about your dad´s passing from the Presentation bulletin.
Reading about him here reminds me of speaking with him at friendly gatherings, about teaching or whatever, and makes my heart smile.

Paul was a wonderful neighbor to us for fifteen years until we moved out of state in 2021. He always had a smile and was ready to chat and treated our dogs well. He was a gem of a human. Love to you, Sharon.

Paul was one of the funniest people my late husband and I knew. You could not be around Paul without hearing something to make you chuckle. When I headed the group ministry to provide receptions after funerals, I would call Sharon and others to get assistance. If Paul answered the phone he would say "she can't come to the phone and can't bring food", before I even said a word. Then he would often come to help us set up the room, decorate and gather food. Just saying his name makes me smile!! I know that this is so very difficult for Sharon, their daughters and entire family. It is something you do not understand unless you have been through it yourself. Sharon, we ladies will get together soon with you, and I will keep in close touch with you also. Paul and I taught together at Oakdale School. When the principal position opened up, Paul applied and the staff supported him. He was a good friend and great co-worker. Sending my condolences to his family.
