Georgia Collins Obituary

Georgia Ann Garner Collins
October 22, 1943 - May 19, 2025
With great sorrow, the family of Georgia Ann Garner Collins, 81, of New Braunfels, Texas, announces the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Aunt, and Cousin. Ann passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Ann was born on October 22, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to George and Eula (Hall) Garner. She grew up in San Antonio and moved to New Braunfels in 1968.
Ann's family shared a rich and colorful history, and she was a self-taught genealogist. Intensely interested in history, family, and preservation, Ann was a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the U.S. Daughters of the War of 1812, Barons and Dames of the Magna Charta, the Jamestowne Society of San Antonio, the National Society Colonial Dames, the Irish Cultural Society of San Antonio, the Gaudy Loopy Gals of New Braunfels, and many other organizations.
Ann was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, as well as a wonderful friend to all. She loved her guinea fowl and chickens, as well as any and all animals that crossed her path. She enjoyed cooking a big meal to enjoy with her family, especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Ann relished in spending time with her grandchildren, and fond memories were made, like dying Easter eggs and doing food crafts at the end of every celebratory meal.
Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Patrick, her beloved daughter Peggy, her son-in-law Randy, her parents, and her sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Cailin Collins Filhiol, grandchildren Brendan Nolan (Kelly), Olivia Parker (Lester), Daniel Graham, John Filhiol, and Phoebe Valenzuela (Jacob), great-grandchildren Hudson Nolan and Hazel Nolan, and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfelson Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A rosary will followat 7:00 PMat the funeral home.

Ann was a lovely person, always smiling. She and Pat were long time members of the Irish Cultural Society and Pat attended many of the meetings, when it must have been difficult t make the effort. But he too was always smiling. We missed Pat but were glad to have Ann for a few more years. I am glad they are reunited, as that was what she wanted.

Mrs. Collins was a wonderful lady and a very close friend of my mother. They loved working on genealogy. They were members of many groups such as DRT, DAR, 1812, Order of the Thistle, etc. They spent many hours visiting in the phone until all hours of the night. My daughter Sarah was a paige with Olivia at several functions over the years. Mrs. Collins was a very loving person with a smile for everyone. She will be missed greatly.
