James Brown Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. James J. Brown, best known as "Farmer Brown" to neighbors and friends; a devoted family man, respected former Marine and skilled craftsman who fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, November 4th at the age of 75, while in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center following a prolonged illness.
Born on Thursday, April 6, 1950 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son to the late Anthony and Mary (Barna) Brown. Educated in the city schools, he was a 1968 graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Brown, following his formal education, served with honor in the United States Marine Corps detachment in Wyoming from October 21, 1969 until his discharge from military duties on October 20, 1975. As a Corporal, he exemplified the values of courage and commitment; traits that he carried into his civilian life.
After his service, he became an insulator and asbestos worker with Local #38 of Wilkes-Barre for over thirty years, where he dedicated himself to his trade and was respected by his peers.
In his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing over the years. Mr. Brown also loved and took pride in his very large garden. He was known for his delicious vegetables and loved delivering extras to family, friends, and neighbors. He also enjoyed sharing his gardening tips with others. He was known as Farmer B or Farmer Brown throughout the area of Hobbie where he lived. Above all else his family was the focal point of his life. He will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved him in this life for his loving fatherly ways.
James' journey was marked by challenges, including a courageous battle with various health issues culminating in respiratory illness. Despite the adversities, he faced each day with resilience, surrounded by the love of his family, who will remember him fondly for his strength, kindness and unwavering devotion.
Although being together for the better part of four decades, he and his wife, the former Lucy L. (Fritz) Brown celebrated nine years of married life together this past October 5th.
Jim was preceded in death by brothers John Brown, Cyril Lesko, Andrew Lesko, Ralph Lesko and his sister, Charlotte Linker; as well as his great-nephew and godson, Max Mukerjee.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they keep of him in addition to his beloved Lucy at home are his children James Kitzmiller of Wapwallopen and Kimberly (Kitzmiller) Adamczyk of the West Palm Beach area of Florida; Grandchildren, Shane Kitzmiller and his wife Jennifer; David Adamczyk Jr; Samantha Adamczyk and Josh Hallowich; his great-granddaughter, Myla Mae Kitzmiller; his great-nephew Dr. Ronald Sepkoski; Sister, Bernice Yencha and her husband Edward of Wilkes-Barre; Several additional nieces, nephews, former co-workers and dear friends.
