Lena Pickler Obituary

Lena Patricia Pickler of Taylor, Arkansas, passed away at the age of 80 on December 31, 2024. Born April 10, 1944, to parents Wayne and Murrah Pickler, Patricia lived the life she wanted to live with many health struggles along the way.  She graduated from Taylor, then Southern State University (SAU), and began teaching. At just a bit over four foot six inches, elementary students, particularly kindergarten, were her perfect match. Hearing problems kept her from being able to teach longer, but she was a very successful teacher. Other passions for her were Arkansas Razorback football, traveling, and her homeless cats that she cared for diligently.

She survived colon cancer three times, a heart attack, broken bones, and other effects relating to Turner Syndrome. She always said her picture should be in the medical books about Turner’s because she had 19 of the symptoms.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her sister, Paula and husband Larry, of Minden, Louisiana, nephew Heath Hadwin and wife, Leslie, great nephew Jordan, great niece Cooper, and special cousins, Nora Corcoran, Mary Ann Elmore, Lee Ann Moore, Paul Edwyn Griffin, and Sam Griffin.

Special thanks to the nurses of Enhabit Home Health and Hospice and Summit Health and Rehab for their care for Patricia.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday January 4, 2025, at Taylor Memorial Cemetery on Highway 160 in Taylor, Arkansas, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be at the cemetery for 30 minutes prior to the service. Reverend Carol Moore of Patricia’s church, Taylor Methodist Church, will officiate.

If anyone wants to honor Patricia’s memory with a donation, please consider CCAPS Animal Shelter, 510 W. Columbia Street, Magnolia, AR 71753 or any animal rescue of your choice.

Services are under the direction of A O Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, Arkansas.

Patricia was a good friend of mine for years. She came to my beauty shop to get her hair fixed each week, and was so good about bringing me books to read. She loved to read! One day, she lock her care, came in the shop, and realized she’d left her car running! She called her dad to bring an extra key so we could stop it !
Patricia taught both my sons in kindergarten and did a good job, I thought

First of all, I never knew her name was Lena but mostly I’d like to express my deepest sympathy to Paula & her family. Patricia ,we grew up knowing her by, was a very special lady. I remember she would go to Magnolia & get a hotel room so she could get to see the Hogs play on tv. They had cable there & in Taylor we barely had 3 tv channels. Such a sweetheart. I know she suffered but now she’s healed & happy with her parents in Heaven. Probably gets to watch the Hogs play every time they have a game. We all know she’s now residing in one of those mansions God has prepared for us & they must have tv & cable in heaven. Lots of memories at the Pickler house growing up.

Patricia and I were at Southern State as elementary Ed majors during the same years. So had many classes together. I always will remember her fun nature and spunk as she took on the world. I am sorry to read of her poor health but I know she brought much joy to those in her life. My sincere condolences and prayers for family and friends.

So sad to hear of Patricia's passing. I remembered her in school but she was 11 years older than me. Prayers for all the family!
