GENARA CUNNINGHAM Obituary
Maria Veronica Genara Cunningham, Our Holy Father called her home on December 12, 2024. She was 95 years of age and passed of natural causes.
Genara was born March 23, 1929 to Louis G. Martinez and Ramona Pino Martinez in Mora County, New Mexico, she was the eldest of eleven children. The Martinez family moved to San Diego, CA. During WWII, her father worked construction while her mother worked in the shipyards. She graduated from Chula Vista High School in 1946. Genara met Homer Cunningham in 1947, and they married on August 28, 1948. They traveled all across the US and most of the world after retirement.
Homer and Genara had six children, Linda, Stephen, Laura, Teresa, Mary Jo and Michael. They have three grandchildren – Shannon, Daniel and Erin. And five great Grandchildren – Brandon, Trinity, James, Harmony and Kaiden.
Genara is preceded in passing by her brothers, Joe, Jessie, Louis, Sixto, Diego and Art. She is survived by her brother, Irenio Martinez and three sisters – Mary Dillon, Fermie Lujan and Gina C De Baca.
Services will be held at St. Anne's church, 511 Alicia St. Santa Fe NM. On January 6, starting with a rosary at 9 am. Mass to follow at 10 AM.
A reception at the church hall will be right after Mass. With the burial at Santa Fe National cemetery, Guadalupe St. at 2:30 PM.

I will always remember when Homer and Genara would visit the Family in the Summer and play and sing beautiful music! Homer taught me how to play Guitar one summer and we would Jam with Genara and Homer in Belen NM! Genara is now singing in Heaven for out Father!
