Ron Schaefer Obituary

Ron J. Schaefer, age 64, of Sauk Rapids, passed away peacefully May 11, 2025.
Ron was born May 28, 1960, in St. Cloud. After attending St. Cloud Technical & Community College for mechanics, Ron worked for various businesses as a mechanic and tow truck operator. He achieved his dream of being the owner and operator of Lincoln Auto and Radiator Repair in Sauk Rapids for over 20 years. In addition to keeping up with the work, Ron loved it when friends and customers would stop by the shop just to hang out and talk, and frequently the office was full of people doing just that. His knowledge, honesty and willingness to help others made him a trusted and valued member of the community.
Beyond work, Ron had a passion for teaching conceal and carry classes, and enjoyed spending time at the lake with family and friends. Whether he was at the lake fishing, grilling, sitting by a bonfire, riding four-wheelers, or simply relaxing, Ron found joy in the simple things. He had a big heart, was always ready to lend a hand and was often the first to find the latest "cool" gadget or tool online - usually just in time to help someone else out.
Ron is survived by his mother, LaVern Schaefer; sisters, JoAnne Schaefer and Barb (Schaefer) Johnson; brother-in-law, Kurt Johnson; niece, Gina Johnson; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Regency Hospital in Golden Valley for the great care and kindness they showed to Ron while he was in their care. He thought of them as his friends away from home.
A memorial service and celebration of Ron's life will be held later this fall. Dates and details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
