Dennis (Denny) Marion Gaskill, age 75, passed away on Thursday morning, March 20, 2025, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Denny was born on September 25, 1949, in Sterling, IL to Marion Gaskill and Doris (Buikema) Gaskill. He was united in marriage to Josephine A "Jo" Cumby September 18, 1971, in Tampico, IL at the First United Methodist church.
Denny worked most recently at Wal-Mart Distribution Center as a yard driver. He worked as a driver at Napa Sterling. He also worked many years and retired from RB&W.
Denny had many recreational hobbies he liked to participate in. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and in his younger years even participated in hare scrambles. He would often spend winters in Wisconsin with his family and friends on the snowmobiles. Summers were spent golfing and playing racquetball with close friends and family. He was also very proud of his crystal-clear swimming pool being with family and friends.
Denny loved caring for all of his pets over the years. He was most fond of his cat Kibbe, and loved sending pictures of him to his granddaughter, Sara. He also loved to watch game shows, Law and Order, football, and NASCAR with his wife. Most recently he loved to watch hockey with his son, Ryan. He loved to sit across the country road and enjoy his morning coffee with his cousin, Mary Lou.
Those left to honor his memory include his son Ryan H. Gaskill (Rachel Hunt) of Rock Falls, his granddaughter, Sara R. Gaskill of Erie, his brothers Terry (Lorraine) Gaskill of Tampico, Rick (Rhonda) Gaskill of Wisconsin, his mother-in-law Mellie Crow , brother-in-law Steven R Cumby of Tampico, sisters-in-law Vickie (Dennis) Huffman of Rock Falls, Pamela (Ed) Davis of Tampico, Tammy (Mark) Naftzger of Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jo Gaskill, his father Marion Gaskill, his mother Doris (Buikema) Gaskill Kilberg, father-in law John H. Cumby, mother-in-law Linda Cumby, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at The Classroom Bar & Lounge, Nelson, IL. Please wear blue in honor of ALS awareness. A private burial will be held at Oak Knoll Cemetery with graveside services presented by his brother, Lay Speaker Terry Gaskill, of the First United Methodist Church Tampico, IL. Arrangements entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home & Crematory.
