Died: July 6, 2025 in Iowa City, IA
IOWA CITY, IA - Larry Hammelman, age 75, of Sterling, IL passed away on July 6, 2025 at the University of Iowa Medical Center.
He spent over three decades working at Northwestern Steel and Wire Mill and later carried his hardworking spirit into real estate with Mel Foster Company. Larry had a deep passion for photography, especially aerial shots captured with his drones. He loved exploring and sharing the beauty of the landscapes around him. A longtime tennis enthusiast, he not only played but also shared his love for the game through coaching.
Larry is survived by his children, Emily (Nick) Jones and Joshua Hammelman; his grandchildren, Sawyer and Benjamin Jones, and Taylor Bracero, Kayla Hammelman, and Joey Hammelman; as well as several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Betty Hammelman, and his sisters, Shirley Barnhart and Sandy Segneri.
In keeping with Larry's wishes, no formal services will be held. The family invites friends and loved ones to honor his memory in their own way-raise a glass and give one final cheers to Dad.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls.

Remember listening to The Beach Boys with him. This was while we were at Challand Junior High. Can´t believe he´s passed. Manny fond memories of walking to school together. Lost touch after we moved in 1979. Saw his real estate for sale homes in Gazette throughout the years. Take care Larry, please open those pearly gates for him!!!!!
