How can we recount the amazing accomplishments of a life so full and so well lived.
First and always was her love for Don and her children and grandchildren. Daisy and Liam gave her such pleasure, she proudly told of their doings at the drop of an ask.
For me she was the embodiment of the good, the beautiful, the faithful, the curious, the questioning and the seeker of truth and peace.
Her activities were amazing--from teaching young children to administrating the Scheie Eye Institute and the ACLU. From helping David and Florence Cohen organize in Olney and then getting him elected to City Council, to activism with the League of Women Voters with Shelly Yanoff and Miriam Gafni to working at the polls for candidates in difficult divisions, she put her feet and body where her values took her.
And it was always her values and beliefs that guided her and keep us all on the path of righteousness politically and morally.
Her incessant curiosity led her to the Barnes Gallery where she took the art history and the horticultural class over the course of several years. And of course she became good friends with one of the curators or assistant directors during a time of intrigue so she was a grand source of great tales.
She helped many of us with her knowledge of plants, which complemented Don's great gifts in the garden.
Not satisfied with pictures and plants, she continually sought insights into religion and thus took a course in the Torah, putting all her Jewish friends to shame. So she also became an authoritive resource for all questions regarding the Old Testament.
She became very active with Sister Ann who had started the Southwest Community Enrichment Center on south 46thStreet below Woodland Ave. She was on the board, helped coordinate the after school tutoring program with Villanova students and tutored herself, and helped to publicize the senior art program at the Center.
She did all this and more while always caring for her family and friends.
