It is with profound sadness that we announce that Ann K Weiss, 87, of San Jose, California passed away on November 11, 2025. Ann, a third generation Californian, was born to parents Fern E. Larney and David M. Oliva on July 22, 1938 in San Francisco, California.
Ann graduated from Notre Dame des Victoires high school in 1956 and graduated with a BS degree in Nursing from University of San Francisco.
Ann worked as a nurse at French Hospital in San Francisco where she met her future husband, Paul O Weiss, a physician who was completing his residency. They were married on March 2, 1961 in Carmel, California. Together they raised 2 daughters, Julie and Jenny until Paul's passing on March 24, 1981.
Ann relished traveling throughout the East Coast and Europe. She devotedly loved her daughters and grandsons, Nicolas and Alex, all of whom enjoyed spending time with her on various cruises, trips and other local adventures. Ann's passions in life were taking her Australian shepherd, Gracie to the local park; spending time spoiling her grandsons; spending time with her daughters going to restaurants, shopping, day trips, movies, always providing wise counsel, encouragement and support throughout our lives.
Ann loved taking classes through SCU's OLLIE continuing education program; playing card games; working in the membership development group at the YMCA; volunteering at Kaiser Permanente, and eventually working in their Worksite Wellness program. Ann loved attending yoga classes, the opera and plays with her friends. Ann was a generous and gracious holiday host for her extended family and friends. Ann had a kind, classy, optimistic, humorous and enthusiastic nature. She loved meeting people and enjoyed friends of all ages.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, parents Fern and Dave, her Aunt Grace Larney, Uncles Albert and Jack Larney and Gus, Silvio, Alphonse "Chick" Oliva.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Julie Weiss and Jenny Peterson, grandsons Alex and Nicolas, grand daughter-in-law, Ly Nguyen-Peterson, her longtime housemate and friend, Diane Shedron and Gracie, her beloved Australian Shepherd. The family has entrusted the Neptune Society with the arrangements. A Celebration of Life event is scheduled for spring 2026. An invitation will be provided well before the event. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Boys Town, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Silicon Valley Humane Society, St Joseph's Indian School (Chamberlain, SD) and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
