William Hueser Obituary

William "Bill" Hueser

October 13, 1932 - September 26, 2025

William "Bill" Hueser, age 92, of George, Iowa, peacefully passed away on September 26, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Senior Living in George, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, Iowa.

William "Bill" Joseph Hueser was born on October 13, 1932, in Marcus, Iowa, to Benjamin J. and Mildred C. (Pitts) Hueser. He attended a country school there until he moved to a farm near Quimby, Iowa. Bill graduated from Quimby in 1950 and worked for several years. He then attended and graduated from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

Bill and Roberta Jean Wheeler of Cherokee were married on June 1, 1956, and made their home in George, Iowa, where he taught Business Education for 38 years. Bill earned his master's degree from Colorado State College in Greeley, Colo. To this day, former students fondly remember "Mr. Hueser" for his warmth, sense of humor, high expectations, and unwavering belief in their abilities.

Bill refereed high school basketball for many years, including state tournament games. He was inducted into the IHSAA Officials Hall of Fame in 2006.

Bill was active in his community, and he and Roberta volunteered their time and talents. He had a special bond with many of his fellow high school teachers. He spent hours at the Otter Valley Country Club playing golf and enjoyed yearly fishing trips to Canada with family and friends. He and Roberta travelled and camped with their children, creating many memorable experiences.

Bill was a member of the Methodist Church in George until it closed, and then attended the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School.

What Bill valued most throughout all these years was his family, especially his wife and two sons, and later his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Remaining to cherish Bill's memory are Roberta, Kyle (Amy), Jon (Angie), Nikki; grandchildren, Zoe, Jacob (Jessie), Kennedy, Tanner (Mitzully), Eddie (Carissa), Ethan (Annastascia), Zach (Meredith), and Danica; great-grandchildren, Bennett, Grayson, Rosie, and Jayla; brother, Jerry (Jean); sister, Peggy; sister-in-law, Delores, many nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Preceding Bill in death are Jean and Paul King, Vernon and Enda Hueser, Leland and Margaret Hueser, Lester and Beverly Hueser, Betty and Lloyd Dickman, Mike Hueser (his Canadian fishing buddy), Frank Lewis, an infant sister, Martha Ann, Carl and Lucille Wheeler, Sherry Wheeler, Larry and Linda Wheeler, Charlie Wheeler, much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
