KENNETH PEACOCK Obituary

KENNETH PEACOCK Kenneth (Ken) Leon Peacock, 91, from Bradenton, Fla., passed from this life on January 3, 2025. He was born July 24, 1933, in Winchester, Ind., to Ralph Clarkson Peacock and Frances M. Peacock. Ken graduated from Wayne High School in 1951 and went on to graduate from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in 1955. Ken then worked full time for Campbell's Soup Company, RedGold Tomatoes and California Packing Company in Frankfort, Ind., which was renamed Del Monte Corporation. He enjoyed several promotions while working for Del Monte by accepting transfers to Markesan, Wis., and then Sleepy Eye where he was promoted to plant superintendent. He was then transferred and promoted to production manager of Del Monte plants in Plymouth, Ind., and Atlanta, Ga. Ken stayed with Del Monte Corporation until his retirement in 1991. Ken served his community in many ways, for example, as a member of Toastmaster's Club, member and chair of Sleepy Eye Public School Board, a church member and leader in Methodist and other of his community churches, a member of Sleepy Eye Lake improvement committee, and president of Soybean Alliance of Indiana. He was a curious man who liked to try new things and was never timid about starting an innovative project around his home or a collaborative project at work, for example, the redesigning of the corn processing building at Sleepy Eye Del Monte plant while he was plant superintendent. Ken was most proud of his marriage and partnership with his wife, Marilyn V. Baker Peacock, whom he married in 1953. The union produced three daughters: Patricia Gayle Hendrich (Howard Hendrich), Elizabeth Susan Hippert, and Frances Louise Peacock (Tom Callanan). He loved his five grandchildren: Heather May DeJong, Angela Clare Hillesheim (deceased), Benjamin David Hillesheim, Bree Emily Molinari (Rachel), Melanie Thomas Jones-Peacock (Brad). Ken was blessed with six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. His two younger brothers, Donald Peacock (Myrna) and James Peacock (Beverly), both died in 2024. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Jericho Meeting in Winchester, Indiana, (Ken's home church), or by planting a tree in Ken Peacock's name, because he loved to plant trees. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.rtsfunerals.com, Palms Chapel.

Mike Mason worked with Ken at Del Monte and he and his wife were so kind to us when we moved to Sleepy Eye. Mike wants you all to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless. Deanna Mason

I knew Ken when he managed the Sleepy Eye facility. What a kind and gentle person, who made you feel welcome right from the start. My favorite memory was the time he invited me to his home for dinner after work. We decided to take a canoe ride on the stream that ran behind his house. Ken steadied the canoe as I stepped in, but I still managed to overturn it, spilling both Ken and his belongings into the stream. He was able to retrieve his glasses, but nothing more. He graciously let me try again, this time successfully, and we made our way down the river- me dry, him wet. Ken remains to this day one of my favorite colleagues at Del Monte. I know he will be greatly missed. Sending our best to Marilyn and family!

My condolences to the Peacock family. I had the pleasure to collaborate with and learn from Ken when he was at Plymouth. Shortly before his retirement I recall Ken deciding to hand drill a water well at his residence, not due to need but more to have a project and satisfy his curious nature.

I was a supervisor for manager Kenneth Peacock and always found him to be very fair and great decision-making person. He was the same person on the job or off the job. A great friend and a great family person.
Like to fly, a airplane with great joy, good. Memories, his first fish house made from a cardboard box. It did keep the wind the way but was not warm for Minnesota, we had fun with this
