Richard McFadden Obituary

Richard Charles McFadden III (“Mac”) passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2026, at the age of 72.

Mac was born on July 29, 1953, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio in 1972 and later earned a degree in Aviation from Liberty Aviation University in 1974. His lifelong passion for aviation defined much of his career and identity. In 1976, he received his Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant Certification, along with his Private Pilot’s Certification.

Mac built an extraordinary life in the air. He logged flight hours with Kerrville Flying Service, flying air mail, medical transport, canceled checks, and numerous routes throughout Georgia and beyond. He went on to obtain his pilot’s license at Airbus. His aviation career included a wide range of government and special flying assignments, as well as flights around the world. He later served as Vice President of Operations and an FAA Liaison for Associated Airlines, roles that reflected both his expertise and deep respect within the aviation community. Aviation was not just his career—it was his calling.

In 1985, Mac married Camilla, and they shared 37 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and adventure. Mac made his home with Camilla in Georgia and later settled in Texas, where family and community remained central to his life. After Camilla’s passing, he found companionship with his partner, Sharon, with whom he shared 12 meaningful years.

Mac would be best described as a loving family man. He loved to teach—especially when it came to airplanes and cars—and he took great joy in sharing his knowledge with others. He adored his grandchildren and supported his family in all aspects of life, always showing up with guidance, encouragement, and love.

Mac never met a stranger. He was compassionate, fun-loving, and deeply responsible, always eager to share stories and make people feel welcome. He loved airplanes, dirt bikes, family time, motocross, Georgia Bulldogs football, Uga (Georgia’s mascot), and a good margarita. He was known for keeping dirt bikes running just right, taking care of his family, and making legendary, thick “Daddy burgers.” He was especially proud of his 2002 Ford Lightning.

He was proud to serve his community as a Volunteer Citizen Patrol member for the City of Keller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Camilla McFadden; his mother, Mary Anna McFadden; his father, Richard Charles McFadden Jr.; and his stepdaughter, Jennifer Schulze.

Mac is survived by his partner, Sharon Schulze; his children, Jennifer Williams (Justin) and Austin McFadden (Rachael); his stepdaughter, Sam Barp (Nick); his sisters, Kelley and Kerry; and his beloved grandchildren, Nathaniel, Abigail, Henry, Nova, and Gracie.

Mac will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. His stories, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Mac’s life will be held on February 28, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at Shady Oaks BBQ, 6364 Sandshell Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76137. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his remarkable life.
