William Stevenson Obituary

William Francis Stevenson, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 6, 2025. "Bill" was born in Statesville, NC on August 27, 1940 to Francis and Helice Stevenson. He earned his Bachelor's degree in sociology from Lenoir Rhyne University in 1962 where he met his wife of 62 years, Betty Ann (nee Hackmann) Stevenson.
Bill worked for the National Security Agency (NSA) for 34 years. Following his career at NSA, he worked for 20 years in the private sector as an intelligence consultant. Additionally in his retirement, he volunteered as a museum guide at the National Cryptologic Museum for many years.
His loving wife, Betty Ann, preceded Bill in death. His three children, Mary Lynn Fisher (Tim), Laurie Urland (Doug) and Chris Stevenson (Gennie) and their families including eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive him.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church 701 S. Charles Street Baltimore MD 21230.

As a former Scotts High School classmate of William´s, it is with a deep sadness that we learn of his passing. He was a friend to all of us, was Valedictorian of our class, and admired but all who knew him. Our deepest sympathy to his surviving family.

William, as we all called him in school, and I graduated high school together. He was always a very nice, studious friend and fellow classmate. Always involved and dedicated to being the best he could be. I´m sorry to hear of his passing, but know that he is in a better place. We share the same birth date -August 27 and I´ve always remembered how we joked about that! I last saw him a few years ago at our class reunion. RIP William
