Ruth was one of my oldest and closest friends beginning in Woerner School First Grade with Miss Deubig as our teacher, through CHS and beyond. She married Don Bauer (CHS 1947). My husband, Cal Yeckel and I with Don and Ruth had dinner together at least once a week for many years until Covid. Then, sadly, Ruth broke her hip and was no longer as mobile as she would have liked. Ruth and I for many years starting when we were about 9 would every Saturday morning walk from Holly hills to Long Library to pick up our weekly stash of books. Later we changed to Carondelet Library and continued into our teen years our "Library Runs". Ruth volunteered for many causes and was always up to date on the latest news. She is remembered in the 1949 Beacon:
"Ruth is pleasant, jolly and sweet; A girl whom we always like to meet."
Special A Cappella Choirs: operetta; Music Council; G.A.A.; Athletic Pin, Letter, Trophy: Four Academic"C"s, Beacon Staff.
