William Potter Obituary
Born on April 8, 1953, to Kathryn and Albert Bud Potter, William lived a life rooted in service, laughter, and love. He retired after a remarkable 35-year career with the Oswego County Department of Social Services, where his dry humor was as much a staple as his dedication to helping others. Not one to sit still for long, retirement was followed by a new chapter of leadership-he was elected Orwell Town Supervisor and proudly served his community for the past 12 years.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, William found great joy in his personal life. He shared ten wonderful years with his partner, Jane Nemier, whose love and companionship brought him peace and joy. Father to four children: Jennifer Glover (Terry) of Texas, Jason Potter (Jennifer) Texas, Emily Potter of Baldwinsville, and Sarah Wight (Andrew) of Baldwinsville, who inherited his razor-sharp wit and deep sense of compassion. He was also the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are his brother L. John Potter (Kristina) of Parish and sister Laurette J. Potter of Pulaski.
In his later years, Bill was an active and enthusiastic member of the Williamstown Senior Citizens club where he was elected president.
His passing leaves a silence that even his best punchline couldn't fill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 30th at Foster- Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, where loved ones will gather to remember a man who served with heart and always knew how to bring a smile. Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. A private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in William's memory may be made to the Williamstown Senior Citizens Club, c/o Norma Crossett, 1297 County Route 30, Altmar, NY 13302.
