Stephanie Miller Obituary
It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of Stephanie Rose Wildhodlzl Miller on 1/23/2025 at Anchor Post Acute, Aiken SC at the age of 91.
Born 2/3/1933 in Salzburg, Austria, Stephanie endured a childhood riddled with wonderful times spent with her grandfather Stephan on his fish farm as well as many days of conflict as WWII and the invasion of Austria by the Germans (1939 – 1945) would prove to be painful for a young girl and her family. Many were lost to the Holocaust including some family members.
After leaving Austria bound for Italy and subsequently France, Stephanie married, had children and ultimately at the age of 26 departed for America. Stephanie's ship arrived at the NY Harbor in October of 1959 with husband and 2 children in tow.
She made her home in New Jersey for a short period and settled in NY State (Cornwall, then Newburgh) where she became a homemaker and an avid seamstress, making most of her children's clothes and some of her own. She loved reading, her favorite author was Issac Asimov. Although her native language was German, she was fluent in English and could also converse in French, some Italian and Yiddish. She pursued many night classes in computers and photography. Stephanie's love and admiration for all animals, great and small, was exceeded only by her innate ability to create a harmonious environment for her children. She loved game shows, her favorite was Jeopardy…
She would eventually spend 25 or so years working outside the home for McBeth Electronics, a division of Kollmorgen as a quality control inspector.
After retirement she moved to South Carolina to be near her daughter and ultimately made Aiken, SC her home until such time as the need arose for around the clock skilled nursing home care.
