Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and lifelong champion of education and giving back.
Todd Liddell Parchman passed away on May 9, 2025, at his home in
Baltimore, Maryland after a long battle with prostate cancer, a journey he faced with strength, courage and dignity. Todd's life was marked by an enduring commitment to family, education, and service, and his greatest joy came from his wife, children and grandchildren. He lived a life guided by his faith and was deeply loved.
Born in Chicago, Todd spent the summers of his youth on the shores of Lake Geneva, WI and his high school years at the Culver Military Academy on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee. Todd then went on to receive a BA in Economics and French from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar and member of the football team, and an MBA in Accounting and Finance from University of Chicago.
Todd started his nearly 50 year career in finance as a banker in the First National Bank of Chicago's First Scholar program, where he spent time in Mexico City and Houston, and later joined Norwest Corp in Minneapolis, where he met Bryn, his future wife. After Norwest, he founded Signet Investment Banking Co. and served as its senior managing director. In 1996, Todd and his former Ferris, Baker Watts colleague Lara Vaughan established Parchman, Vaughan & Co, from which Todd retired earlier this year.
Todd put his family first, and he seldom missed one of his children's lacrosse games - no matter the distance. When he wasn't on the sidelines, he could often be found on the golf course at Baltimore Country Club, the squash court at the Maryland Club, at a Ravens game, or on the deck with a cigar and a book.
Todd was proud to support a variety of different educational institutions. Todd was a lifelong advocate for Culver, where he had served as a trustee of the Culver Educational Foundation. Todd also served as a trustee of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation and the Youth Outreach Foundation Inc. and on the boards of The Education Industry Association, the United States Lacrosse Foundation, the Conserve School and the Conserve School Trust. In addition, he served on the President's Advisory Council of Stevenson University, chaired the Advisory Board for the Baltimore City Campus of the School of Continuing Studies at Johns Hopkins University, and served on the Baltimore City Board of Finance. For some time, Todd also taught Corporate Finance and Negotiation at Johns Hopkins University and St. Thomas College. Other volunteer activities included being a Big Brother and supporting veterans.
He was the beloved husband of Bryn Parchman (nee Bjella); devoted father of L.J. "Jack" Parchman III and his wife Katelyn Bethke Parchman, Andrew "Andy" Arley Parchman and his wife Rebecca Robbins Parchman, and Kallan "Kallie" Elizabeth Parchman; loving grandfather of Liddell Jackson "LJ" Parchman IV, Elizabeth Katelyn Parchman, Charlotte Clara Parchman; Hancock "Hap" Anderson Parchman, and Todd "Skip" Spalding Parchman; dear brother of Leslie Parchman Olson and her husband Chris; cherished uncle of Max Olson. He is predeceased by his brother Robert Parchman, nephew Larson Parchman and his parents L.J. "Jack" Parchman Jr. and Marguerite Parchman. Todd is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews, family, friends, and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held later this month. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the L.J. Parchman Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Culver Academies (https://www.culver.org/about/giving) or to Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Y (YMCA of Central Maryland) - two causes close to Todd's heart and reflective of the legacy he leaves behind. Ruck Funeral Home - Towson is assisting the family.
