WESTERLY - Paul W. Gilluly Sr. died on January 11, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born to Margaret and Edward A. Gilluly Jr. in Central Falls, RI and moved to Westerly in 1951. He graduated from Westerly High School in 1957. He first worked as a plasterer and electrician at BDA. He went on to eventually retire from Electric Boat after 33 years as an HVAC and electrician foreman.

Paul was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and proud of his Irish heritage. He was a past president of the Bradford Citizens Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was younger, as well as gardening and flower beds. For years he met with his closest friends to solve the world's problems at Westerly's local coffee shops (hosted wherever coffee was cheapest).

Paul W. Gilluly Sr. was a father, brother, grandfather, and dear friend to many. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Carolee and his brothers, Edward and John Gilluly. He is survived by his sister Kathleen Mederios and his children, Debbie Craft (Mark), Kathleen Burger, Paul Gilluly Jr. (Sandra), and Micheal Gilluly (Jennifer). He is also survived by his dear friend Shirley Harrington as well as his grandchildren, Daniel & Erin Craft, Charlie, Seth, & Garrett Burger, Danielle Comforti (Marcus) & Kellie Gilluly, and Evan Gilluly; four great grandchildren; and his loving cat, Fleabag.

We will miss Paul dearly, but are grateful for the fulfilling life he led and all of the memories he has left us with. You will remain in our hearts forever.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, from 4-6pm at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clares Church, 62 Crandall Ave., Misquamicut, on Wednesday, January 15th at 12pm. There is no procession from the funeral home to church. Interment will follow at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Boys Town in Paul's memory. My condolences to the family. Last time we seen Paul was the Columbus day parade. We have many memories of going to his so George could fix his computer. We spent a lot a time with him years ago. He will be missed.

Paul, we will cherish the memories we had together in this life. I wish we had been able to make more, sometimes we don't get the answers we want in this life. I know we will be together again and we will know all things then. I'm thankful we have a savior that can take our faults, fear and pain, and give us strength, peace and joy. Until we meet again... So sorry to hear of Paul´s passing. I worked with him at EB. Great man and hard worker at the Shipyard. Always enjoyed talking with him.
He had my Wife´s uncle as his electrical instructor at a trade school in the Manchester CT area which we often chatted about.

PAUL'S FAMILY,
Paul his late brother Edward and I were members of the "1957" class at WHS. Over the years we stayed in touch at many coffees shops in town solving all the days problems. I mow lawns in the Cove Road area and would stop by to shoot the breeze while he was mowing his lawn. Paul bought a new riding mower only to find out it would not fit in his shed we chucked over that. We both worked at EB.
My last meeting with Paul was at our class luncheon this summer and he was the same Paul full of life and storytelling. Paul will live in the heart of his family members to carry on his family's tradition. Rest in peace Paul. I am presently at my Florida winter home and will miss
his services.
