Michael E. Barkdull, 62, of Mooreland, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, following a brief and unexpected illness.
He was born on August 3, 1962, in Muncie, Indiana, a son of the late Max and Natalie (Walters) Barkdull.
Mike graduated from Madison Grant High School in 1980 and married the love of his life, Vicki Wisehart, on June 22, 1991. He served as a Motor Carrier Inspector with the Indiana State Police for 31 years, retiring in 2021.
Mike loved helping people and was currently employed with LifeStream Services as a bus driver. He was an avid runner and a black belt in karate. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and working in his garage. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Mike's memory include his wife of 33 years, Vicki Barkdull; a daughter, Kristen (J.C.) Zankl of Muncie; a son, Zach (Alex) Barkdull of Mooreland; a granddaughter, Josie Barkdull; a brother, Kevin (Rin) Barkdull of Midlothian, VA; a sister, Karen Jackson (Greg Delong) of Summitville; his in-laws, John and Wava Wisehart of Mooreland, and several cousins, nieces, and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a cousin, Craig McKinsey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery.
Mike's family requests that you dress in casual clothes for the funeral service in honor of Mike.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday.
