Fred Muns Obituary

Fred Donald "Pizza Fred" Muns, age 69, of Greenville, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at Optalis Health & Rehab of Ionia. The son of Duane L. & Diane K. (Reese) Muns, he was born on November 16, 1955 in Greenville.

Before graduating Greenville High School in 1974, Fred was an expert trombonist. He would always welcome a challenge, especially with Craig Morford, for "First Chair." His talent took him to summer music camps at both Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, where his gift and appreciation of music was admired for many years beyond just high school.

After graduating high school, Fred was a pizza chef at Eddies of Greenville for nearly forty years, never missing a day of work. Everyone knew "Pizza Fred" was generous with his toppings and made the best pizza in town. Because the restaurant was closed on Mondays, Fred used that day to mow his lawn every week. It was a source of pride and his brother John kept the mowers going. Also, on Monday evenings, his brother Joe brought his sons over to "Uncle Fred's" to play video games.

Fred was welcomed home by his parents, Duane & Diane Muns; his grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and his canine and feline companions he'd had throughout the years. He adored his three little white dogs and several cats that he had.

Surviving are his siblings, Joe & Sue Muns of Sidney, John & Deb Muns of Gowen, Sandy & Jim Gardner of Greenville, Chuck & Ana Muns of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Kathy & Kevin Doorn of Greenville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Contributions in memory of Fred can be directed to Cannonsville Critters, as Fred loved all furry companions.

I have many fond memories of Fred at Eddie's Pizza. He was the backbone of the restaurant. He had a great sense of humor and was always so kind. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Fred.
