Annie Kydd Obituary

Waterford - Annie Rose Kydd, 92, of Quaker Hill, passed away peacefully July 2, 2025, held in the loving embrace of her family.

Born on May 5, 1933, in Fort Huachuca, Cochise County, Ariz., Annie was the eldest daughter of Peter Logan and Maria Antonia (Cordova) Crawford. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her siblings: Reinaldo, Stephen, Miguel, Maria Luisa and Josephine, whose presence she carried in her heart throughout her life.

Annie's childhood was shaped by the adventurous life of a military family. As an "Army brat," she moved frequently-living in Douglas, Ariz., Lawton, Okla., and Newport News, Va., wherever her father's service as a chief warrant officer took them.

In Virginia, fate brought her together with the love of her life, Henry E. Kydd Sr., who was stationed at Fort Eustis. They were married on Feb. 16, 1951, beginning a beautiful union that spanned 69 devoted years. As an Army wife, Mrs. Kydd served for 22 years, accompanying her husband from Fort Eustis, Va., Tokyo, Japan, Governors Island, N.Y., San Juan, Puerto Rico to New London, Ct. Her husband Henry Kydd Sr., passed in June 2020.

After settling in New London in 1969, Annie poured her heart into serving others. In the early 1970s, she worked with the youth of New London, as well as the Youth NAACP as the adult sponsor. She worked with deep compassion at the Mary Kenny Nursing Home for 25 years, touching countless lives before retiring in 1995.

She was a devoted and cherished member of St. James Episcopal Church in New London, where she found a sense of belonging, love and spiritual warmth that nourished her soul.

Above all, Annie lived for her family. Her joys, her passions and her gentle strength were woven into every memory and moment they shared. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, fierceness and kindness - a beautiful thread that connects all who were lucky enough to know her.

She leaves behind her devoted children, who will forever carry her love in their hearts:
Tina (James) Carter, Henry (Pamela) Kydd, Logan (Timothea) Kydd, Regina (Rodrick) Ventura, Michael (Sharril) Kydd, Anthony (Leslie) Kydd, and Bernice Kydd.
Annie's (Nana's) adoring grandchildren - James (Shannon) Carter, Johonna Carter, Henry III (Alexa) Kydd, Mallory (Jamal) Pettiford-Jones, Logan Kydd Jr., Alexander Kydd, Rodrick Ventura Jr., Casandra (Alex) Fine, Michael (Jeralyn) Kydd, Peter (Jamie) Kydd, Nora Kydd, Katharine Kydd, and Margaret Kydd - carry forward her spirit.
Her cherished great-grandchildren brought joy and light to her later years - Amelie, Henry IV, and Ainsley Kydd; Landon, Carter, and Sadie Pettiford-Jones; Logan III, Olivia, and Liam Kydd; Frankie, Sunny, and Kiko Fine; Kiara, Jaxson, and Cooper Kydd; and Cameron and Avery Salvatore. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, all of whom she treasured.

Viewing/visitation hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London. A celebration of Annie's life will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at St. James Episcopal Church, 76 Federal Street, New London.
