Peter Van Elswyk Obituary

Peter Van Elswyk, 57, died Tuesday, February 20. 2024. To celebrate Peter's life, friends are welcome to gather Friday, March 1, 2024 from 3 PM to 6 PM at Tribute Eatery & Bar, 901 E. Second Avenue, Coralville, in Iowa River Landing. On Saturday, March 2, 2024 friends may gather from 12 PM to 3 PM at Nostalgia in the Fred Maytag Hotel, 109 North 2nd Avenue East in Newton. A Celebration of Life service will be held in June 2024 in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Peter Van Elswyk Memorial Fund c/o P.O. Box 167, Iowa City, IA 52244. Peter was born December 5, 1966 in Des Moines, the son of Leo and Ruth Ann (Fox) van Elswyk. He was a 1985 graduate of Newton High School. Peter was employed in men's athletic facilities management at the University of Iowa. Peter is survived by his sister, Adrianna van Elswijk (Gerald Suder) of Clinton, WA; and his niece, Winifred Quincy and great-niece, Charlotte Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents. I enjoyed sitting down with Pete and solving a lot of the world's problems. I was deeply saddened last week, I was close to his office, so I stopped by only to find out he passed. What kindhearted person that cared about his work and his Iowa sports. You will be missed budddy.
