Died: December 2, 2024 in Manteno, IL
Phyllis E. "Charlie" Weinhold, age 81, of Manteno, formerly of Plainfield, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born December 4, 1942 in Chicago, the daughter of Stephen & Elizabeth "Elsie" (Riban) Michalovic. Phyllis married Tom Weinhold, her lifelong companion. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2014.
Charlie was a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Ravenettes, the women's auxiliary of the Ravens in Joliet. Charlie was an avid reader of John Creasey and Agatha Christie. She was a very skilled knitter, having made blankets with images and sweaters for all family members when they had a baby. She enjoyed gardening and loved dogs. Charlie lived her life on her terms.
Surviving are one daughter, Karyn (Dale) Bowman of Manteno; two sisters, Nancy (Al) Pena of Victoria, TX and Marie Wheeler of Pekin; one brother, Tom Michalovic of Western Springs; four grandchildren, Josh Clothier, David Bowman, Sara Bowman, and Sam Bowman; one great-granddaughter, Julia Clothier; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, Tom Weinhold, Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Hirschberg; grandparents, Tomas & Agnes Michalovic and Michael & Anna Riban.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
