Anna Jardine Obituary

Anna Marie Jardine, 95, of Grand Island, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Edgewood Vista in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Apfel Funeral Home. The Rev. Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jardine was born April 7, 1916, to Frank Hurlbut and Chloe Mercer Hurlbut at Dawson.

She married Garrett Jardine Aug. 30, 1937.

Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law, Denzel and Debby Jardine and Keith and Pam Jardine, all of Grand Island; five grandchildren and their spouses; and a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and John Grady of Lincoln.

Other survivors include 13 great-grandchildren, two nieces and three nephews.

She grew up in Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School and Ghode School of Cosmetology in Lincoln.

The couple lived in Alliance, Sioux City, Iowa, and Lincoln before moving to Grand Island. Anna was employed by the Grand Island City Library for 17 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Liederkranz. Anna enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, reading and bowling in her younger years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters; and one brother.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or Stuhr Museum.
