Myrna Lynn Schaffert
ROGERS - Myrna Lynn Schaffert, age 73, of Rogers, AR passed away on Wednesday August 28, 2024 peacefully in her home after a 9-year battle with cancer. She was born in Alliance, NE lived in Grand Island, NE and graduated from Aurora High School. After high school, Lynn graduated from Grand Island Beauty School. She and her husband John worked and raised their sons in Doniphan, NE before moving to Rogers, AR in 2003.
Lynn was an active member in the Doniphan United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Rogers. While raising her family she worked for the Bank of Doniphan and Nebraska Machinery Company in Doniphan. In Arkansas, she worked for Arvest Bank in the trust department from 2003 – 2021 where she made several lifelong friends.
Lynn enjoyed being outside as much as possible. Whether it was a daily walk with her husband, working in the yard, or watching the game in the garage. She loved to spend time with friends and family on their boat at the lake, riding her jet ski, or showing her talents water skiing. Lynn and her husband loved to travel together and with their friends. They had many wonderful adventures together over the years. Lynn was known as an incredible hostess, cook, and especially baker. Her Grandchildren will attest to her making the best cookies ever! Many will miss her lemon blueberry bread among several other items.
Sports were always a big part of Lynn's life. Husker Football and Volleyball were always at the top of her watch list. She spent many warm spring and summer evening cheering for her St. Louis Cardinals. She was also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Most important to Lynn was sitting in the bleachers watching her sons and her grandchildren play sports. She would attend as many of their games as her illness would allow and was one of the loudest fans cheering in the stands.
Putting others first was how Lynn lived her life. She was a devote Christian and completed daily devotionals. She truly lived life by the golden rule; treating others the way you want to be treated. Lynn was lucky to have been married to her best friend and the love of her life for 53 years. She was the glue that held the family together.
Her family all loved and adored her unconditionally as she did them. Lynn fought long and hard to beat her illness. Her strength and love for her family allowed her to be here much longer than anticipated and allowed everyone more time to enjoy her love and attention.
Lynn is survived by her husband John Schaffert II, sons: John (Cauley) Schaffert III, Brian (Kate) Schaffert, sister Cindy (Rod) Blase, brothers Mike Wiseman (Amy) and Pat Wiseman (Rita) and her grandchildren: John IV, Madelyn, Jack, and Will.
