LANCASTER, S.C. - Austin Lee Welling, age 28, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2025.
He was born April 4, 1996, in Orange, CA, the son of Roger Victor Welling and Cindy Lee Strauss.
Austin was always up for an adventure. He loved scuba diving, surfing, riding his motorcycle, writing conservative political articles, and listening to jazz music. Austin enjoyed attending venues that hosted jazz music festivals and trying out new restaurants, especially if they had oysters as they were his favorite. Austin loved being with his friends and had friends of all ages. He was a part of two social clubs, The Union Club of Boston and The Tennis & Racquet Club in Boston, Mass.
Austin was baptized on Dec. 29, 2024, and recently took and passed the Law School Admission Test and applied to the top 10 law schools. Austin wished to reside in New England in the Boston area as he has many friends there and loved the area, especially where he resided in Beacon Hill. His top three law schools were Cornell Law School, Harvard Law School, and Boston University School of Law, where he looked forward to receiving acceptance letters. Austin held his Real Estate License in California and in Massachusetts.
Austin is survived by his mother, Cindy Strauss; his father, Roger Welling; his brother, Landon Welling; his maternal grandmother, Carole Strauss; his aunt, Jodi McNamara (Dave); his cousins, Danielle McNamara Jenkins, Patrick McNamara, Joseph McNamara, and Claire McNamara; and many special family members and friends.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Austin will be at 3:15 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. David Carlton. The family will receive friends from 2:15-3:15 p.m., one hour prior to the service at Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, Calif.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Austin will be held at The Church of the Advent in Boston, Mass., 30 Brimmer St., Boston, MA 02108, date and time to be determined.
