David Brenner Obituary

David Christopher Brenner, 59, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at Norton Women's and Children's Hospital in Louisville, after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

David was born Sept. 4, 1965, in Key West Naval Hospital to Fred and Judie Miner Brenner.

David was a 1983 graduate of Saratoga High School in Saratoga Springs, New York. He graduated with a bachelor of science from SUNY Oneonta in 1989. David moved to Florida right after his college graduation anxious to make his mark in the world. He began his career in the business arena. As computers became more developed, so did his knowledge and expertise. He was most recently employed as a senior consultant for Microsoft and he loved his job dearly. From the time he was a teenager, David could fix or build just about anything. He loved doing woodworking and said it gave him a special connection to his grandfather, who was a carpenter and who he never had the opportunity to know. David built beautiful furniture. He was happiest when he was moving and busy. He loved to travel and he and Sonya did as much as they could in their time together. He was a large and loving presence in all of our lives and he will be missed terribly.

David is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Sonya Jackson Brenner; his son William (Alex); daughter Sarah; his parents, Fred and Judie; a sister, Kristin; a brother, Michael (Jennifer); two stepsons, Logan and Eli Schrock; his lifelong friend Robert LaFleur (Kristin); and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life is at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Chris Kiger officiating.

Visitation is from noon until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
