Marilyn Senterfitt Obituary

Marilyn Janette Berry Senterfitt, 85, of Gainesville, Florida, passed quietly in her sleep Tuesday, May 20, 2025, after a brief decline in health.

Marilyn was born in Elizabethtown and moved to Pensacola, Florida, during her teen years, where she lived until meeting her future husband, Vern. They married in 1959 and moved to Gainesville, Florida, where Marilyn raised her family and was a dedicated member of Parkview Baptist Church. She spent many years in the choir and directed the children's sermon each Sunday morning. She always had stories to share about her childhood filled with beloved friends and family in Elizabethtown as she referred to her childhood home in Kentucky. Her time was filled with church activities and writing for Christian children's publications. In later years, she loved to thrift for small antique items to sell on E-bay. It opened a whole new world of meeting and befriending kindred spirits around the country. She never stopped sharing her stories, everyone who cared for her at her assisted living facility knew all about Elizabethtown and her childhood pets and friends. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a storyteller first and foremost.

She will be greatly missed by her four children, Crystal Senterfitt, Sharon Senterfitt Miller, Linda Senterfitt and Bill Senterfitt. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.

She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Floyd Berry; and her dedicated husband, Vernon Senterfitt.

Her burial service is at 9:30 a.m. Oct 13, at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida, if any friends or family wish to attend.

I met Marilyn in the early years of my ministry at Parkview Baptist Church. She helped me navigate the children's ministry. I appreciated her friendship. Prayers for her family.
