Elain Mahan Obituary

Carol "Elaine" Bice Mahan, age 80, of McCaysville passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at her home.
Carol was born April 25, 1945, in Loudon, Tennessee, to the late Hayden Bice and Lois Hughes Bice.
While living in Atlanta she worked as a telephone operator for the Southern Bell Telephone Company, and after moving back to McCaysville, she worked for the UGA Extension Office and Merchant's Hope.
Carol was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church. She loved listening to gospel music, and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life, even in her sickness, telling others about Jesus. Carol enjoyed cooking, and was known for her wonderful chocolate cake.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, known for always putting others above herself.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Hayden and Lois Bice; brothers, Archie Bice and Lloyd Bice; and brothers-in-law, Phil Mahan, Carl Wilson, and Charlie Ballew.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Don Mahan of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Weaver; grandchildren, Matt (Haley) Weaver, and Haley (Jacob) Smith; great-grandchildren, A.J. Smith, Benton Weaver, Brody Smith, Pearson Weaver, and Callon Weaver; sister, Patty (Earnest) Bice Pickelsimer; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth "Liz" Bice, Linda Ballew, and Pam Wilson; brother-in-law, Gary Mahan; special friend, Sherry Clark; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 1 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill Chapel with Dr. Joel Kailing and the Rev. G.W. Mathis officiating. Eulogy was provided by Matt Weaver. Music was provided by Liz Bice, Diana Odom, Mike Weaver, and Haley Smith.
Interment followed in the Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Kenneth McHan, Mark McHan, David Bice, Matt Weaver, Jacob Smith, and Noah Land.
The family received friends at Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations of Copperhill Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pruitt Home Health, Pruitt Hospice, and other health care providers that provided wonderful and loving care during her illness.
