Brandon Workman Obituary

Brandon Jon Workman, 48, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 6, 1977, in Grand Rapids, MI, he graduated from South Christian High School in 1995 and went on to build a career in carpentry. Brandon was a devoted husband, loyal friend, and a man of great skill and heart. He built a meaningful life through his work as a talented framing and finish carpenter, crafting not just homes but also the spaces where families made their memories. Brandon had a deep love for the outdoors, especially camping under the stars with those closest to him. A lifelong music lover, he always had the perfect song for any moment. He was passionate about most sports and didn't miss many games. He always cheered on his favorite teams in style, whether it was wearing a coordinating jersey or T-shirt. He also had a signature style, reflected in his impressive and beloved hat collection. Grounded in his Christian faith, Brandon lived with humility, kindness, and strength. He met life's challenges with quiet determination and never lost his sense of humor or his deep care for others. Brandon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Kim, who never left his side, as well as his beloved fur kids, Charley, Tyler, and Stanley. He is survived by his parents, Jack and Bonny Workman; brothers, Brooks Workman and Blake Workman; parents-in-law, Gordon and Lois James; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rick and Amy James; aunts and uncles, Tom and Connie Selvius, Ken and Cheryl Kooistra; nieces and nephew, Ashley (David) Wilhoite, Brooklyn Workman, and Mike James; great-niece, Nova Wilhoite; cousins, Angel (Todd) Docter, Ryan (Callie) Selvius, Jacqueline (Matt) Walker, Gabrielle (Norman Wells) Selvius, Kendall (Tabetha) Kooistra, Kara (Chad) Zaagman, and Kalee (Kendrick) Warren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Donna Workman, John and Maegene Selvius, Gerrit and Maxine Vogelaar and Dwaine James; uncle, Bob Selvius. At his request, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held, with a light lunch, from 1-4 PM on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Terrytown RV Classic Car Museum, 7303 Division Ave S, Grand Rapids, MI 49548. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to any animal rescue or Humane Society in his honor.
Brandon's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the love he gave, and the things he built-both with his hands and his heart.
