Jerry Frank Crews

April 15, 1934 - April 14, 2024

Columbia, South Carolina - Dr. Jerry Frank Crews, Jr., husband of MaryAnn Smith Crews, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, April 14, 2024 in Columbia at the age of eighty-nineone day shy of his ninetieth birthday. He was a well- known dentist throughout the Lowcountry of South Carolina for over fifty eight years.

Jerry Frank was born in Walterboro, SC on April 15, 1934. He was the son of the late Jerry Frank Crews, Sr. and Louise McTeer Goethe Crews. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1952, where he was a member of the Beta Club, the football team, the basketball team and the baseball team.

Jerry Frank attended and graduated from Clemson University in 1956. During his time at Clemson he was 1st Sergeant, a member of Delta Sigma Nu, an Executive sergeant, and attended ROTC summer camp at Fort Benning, GA. He played baseball at Clemson his freshman year on the freshman traveling team. He was a member of IPTAY for 50 plus years and was the county representative for Clemson for many years. In Hampton, he was a Shriner, a member of the Blue Lodge and the Jaycees.

Jerry Frank was married to MaryAnn Smith of Estill for 28 years, and they lived in Hampton and Columbia during their marriage. He was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church, where he was an usher and greeter for many years. His involvement in the church grew every year, and he was known to "never" be late for Sunday School or church. Jerry Frank had a charming personality and bubbly sense of humor. He loved golf and following Clemson sports.

In addition to his wife MaryAnn, he is survived by his three children, Michael Crews, Louise Crowe and Catherine Rainsford. There are two step children, Ed Eubanks, Jr. and Ann Louise Eubanks Schmitt. Jerry Frank leaves behind twelve beloved grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at Shandon United Methodist Church in Columbia, SC on Saturday, May 18, at 2 PM followed by a reception in Player Hall at the church.
