Dorothy Darden
Wood River - Dorothy S. Darden, 80, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at La Bella of Alton.
Born July 30, 1944 in Alton, she was a daughter of William B. and Ida O. (Downer) Starbuck.
Dorothy worked as a secretary for IMPACT for nearly 10 years. She enjoyed traveling, both in the U.S. and abroad. Dorothy also was interested in genealogy. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Wood River.
Survivors include her sister, Norma (Don) Curtis of East Alton; brother Dennis (Carolyn) Starbuck of Visalia, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Starbuck of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces and nephews, Randy (Elizabeth) Starbuck, Michael Flanders, Kenneth (Sharon) Flanders, Michelle (John) Uldall, Kimberly (Don Krouse) Flanders, Stephanie Long, Scott (Zann) Starbuck, and Amy Whitten; 16 great nieces and nephews; three great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Mehnert Flanders; and a brother, Ernest Starbuck.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 3. Burial will follow at Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Riverbend Family Ministries.
