Angela Hovermale Obituary

Angela Loftis Hovermale

October 19, 1966 - June 29, 2025

Angela Jeanine Loftis Hovermale, 58 of Chesterfield, VA, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Sunday, June 29, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on October 19, 1966, in Great Falls, Montana. She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley "Bonnie" Loftis, uncle Jeffrey George, cousin Hannah George, and grandbabies Paxton and Collins Hovermale.

Angela loved her family dearly. She is survived by her husband Scott and their three children Brenden (Kelsi), Dylan, and Peyton, all of Chesterfield. Her father, David Randolph "Randy" Loftis of Amelia, VA, also survives, along with beloved sister Melisa (Mimi) Pouleris, brother-in-law David Pouleris, and nephew Ethan Pouleris, all of Topsail Beach, NC. She is also survived by her "auntie" Teresa Kimbler George Wall (Richard) of Roanoke, VA, best friends Sarah Conner of Chesterfield, VA, and Amanda Boor of Henrico, VA, and her special cousin Brad Loftis of Lake Cormorant, MS. Angela's greatest joy in life was being "Lala" to her three grandchildren Jaiden "Jay," Emersyn "Emmy," and Sylas.

Angela was a generous soul. She created memories for her children with visits to the pool, beach, and amusement parks along with the countless hours she spent on the sidelines at their sporting events. The doors to Angela's home were always open. If you needed a place to stay during a life transition, you had a place in her home. Angela gave selflessly to others as she traveled with groups from Clover Hill Church to India to work with women and children impacted by human trafficking, to Honduras to care for orphaned children, and to New Orleans to minister to those ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Angela was a master teacher. She had an unsurpassed work ethic and was exceptionally well-organized. She retired from Chesterfield County Public Schools after 34 years of service. She was dedicated to her work, beloved by her students, and well-respected by her colleagues. Her expertise in her craft was revealed not only by top-notch test results but, more importantly, by the hundreds of students who maneuvered to "be in" Mrs. Hovermale's classes.

Following her retirement, she found great joy spending time at her home in the OBX, walking Pea Island searching for sea glass, and traveling with loved ones. She loved a good trip to TJ Maxx, McDonalds french fries, Coke Zero, and her SweeTarts. She was a daddy's girl through and through and could do no wrong in the eyes of her little sister.

Angela was a follower of Christ. She possessed a quiet but solid faith. She lived life to the fullest and never gave up, even in the darkest days of her illness. Shortly before her death, she made the decision to rededicate her life to Christ and was re-baptized in an intimate setting with loved ones by her side.

Angela's family and friends would like to express their extreme gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at VCU Massey Cancer Center, Johnston Willis Hospital, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Crater Community Hospice for their dedication and loving support as Angela navigated the difficult path of metastatic breast cancer. Their kindness and gentle guidance will not be forgotten.

In accordance with her wishes, her body was donated for the purpose of medical research. This final act of selflessness will contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge and potentially benefit countless others in their fight against TNMBC.

A Celebration of Life for our Sea Glass Collecting Queen is planned for August 7, 2025 from 6-9 p.m. at The Gardens Pavillion at The Boathouse at Sunday Park 4602 Millridge Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23112.

She was my favorite teacher in 8th grade, so sad to hear this and so lucky to have been her student. Thinking of her family and people who knew her

Angela was one of the first teachers I met at Bailey Bridge. She was unfailingly kind and exceptionally talented in her craft. I am a better educator for having known and worked with Angela.

Angela was an excellent teacher. She and I tutored at the library and whoever got there first signed the other up for the private tutoring rooms. She always had a group of students waiting for her to get extra help. She always had a smile on her face, a well organized tote bag of materials and a heart of gold.
