Virginia "Ginny" Ann Tomascik Thornton, 78, of Round Hill, Va., passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Leesburg, Va.
Born Friday, Jan. 17, 1947, in Trenton, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Stephen Tomascik and the late Columba "Connie" Berti Tomascik.
Ginny graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School in 1965. She continued her education and went to nursing school.
She would go on to work for many years as an OR nurse and later as the office nurse for Dr. Walter Zolkiwsty before retiring in 2000.
In 1969, Virginia married her husband of 44 years, John F. Thornton, before his passing in 2013.
Ginny enjoyed spending time with her beloved family, at the softball fields and outside in the sun. She was a stranger to no one. Ginny was kind and caring to everyone she met.
She leaves behind many to cherish her memory, including her daughter, Michelle Daniels (Shawn), of Round Hill, Va.; brothers, Bruce Tomascik, of Forty Fort, and Brian Tomascik, of Swoyersville; and granddaughter, Amanda Daniels.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Virginia's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ginny was one of my very favorite dental patients for oh gosh at least 30 years. Ran into her just a couple weeks ago and we talked about meeting for lunch. I am so sad that we never got to do that. She was a special person who loved her family fiercely. She always brought cookies to the office. She remembered all my kids and grandkids names. I´m sorry Michelle Shawn and Amanda. What a tremendous loss for you. She is with her beloved John and waiting for you. Much love to all and I will look forward to a new star in the heavens tonight.

RIP Ginny. From your old neighbor, Danny Yatsko, 136 Stites. I remember your mom taking myself, Bruce and Brian to school, when we needed a ride. She always gave us a life saver candy.
