William Nelson Obituary

William David Nelson Sr. went home to be with the Lord peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sept. 30, 2025.
David proudly served his country with honor & dedication. He retired from the United States Navy after 25 years of service; also serving five years in the United States Army his commitment to duty & love for his country were evident in every chapter of his life.
David was preceded in death by his parents: J.B. & Iva Nell (Olinger) Nelson; his wife, Ellen Janell Burchfield Nelson; his son, William David Nelson Jr. (Billy); His mother- & father-in-law, Grace & Herman Burchfield; a special niece, Delena Lucas; brother-in-law, Ronald Lee Hogsed Sr.; & his brother, Johnny Lee Nelson.
He is survived by his loving daughters: Regina Simpson (Wayne) & Thelma Malino, both of Kingsport, & Dee Languedoc (Mike) of Millington; Sister: Alma Tankersly (Garley) of Kingsport; Sister-in-law: Frances Hogsed of Johnson City; Grandchildren: Nacoma Simpson, & Jeremiah Simpson (Rachel), both of Kingsport; Tomah Nelson & Cheyenne Nelson, both of OH; Ashley Chilson (Fletcher) of Arlington; Micheal Languedoc (Kristen) of Atoka; & Jessica Leggett (Jonathan) of Millington; Great-grandchildren: Madison, Addie, Caroline, Adeline, Tori, & Ella; Special nephew: Ronald Lee Hogsed Jr. of Johnson City.
Visitation will be held on Mon. Oct. 6, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM. The service will start at 6 PM, with Rev. Dennis Spears presiding. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Tues., Oct. 6, 2025, at Church Hill Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession. Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Simpson, Michael Languedoc, Wayne Simpson, Fletcher Chilson, Jonathan Legget, & Bobby Ford.
