Hanecak, Fawn Marie
COHOES - Fawn Marie Hanecak, 97, passed away peacefully in her sleep, in the loving care of her daughter, Fawn Rock, on New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025.
Born and educated in Cohoes, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was the daughter of the late Emile J. Coutu and Viola M. (Gildea) Coutu Desrosiers; and the stepdaughter of the late Arthur Desrosiers.
Fawn was the proud matriarch of her family. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she truly lived for her family. She was happiest at family gatherings and parties, as well as any opportunity that brought everyone together.
Fawn was the beloved wife of Edward John Hanecak, who passed in 1994. She is survived by her loving children, Denise Marie Hanecak, of Cohoes, Fawn Elizabeth Rock (Nicholas), of Brunswick, and Jay Edward Hanecak (Barbara "Bobbie"), of Waterford; by her adored grandchildren, Andrew, Kate and Nickolas; and by her cherished great-grandchildren, Hayden, Kathryn, Delaney, Sage, Henry and Logan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by all of her siblings, Knowlton Emile Coutu (Berthe), Edmund Gildea Coutu (Jeannette), Robert Francis Coutu and Douglas John Coutu (Joyce).
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12 p.m., in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service.
