George Boone Obituary

Boone, George
TROY - George Boone 62, Troy, N.Y., passed into eternal rest, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital, with his family, friends and Brother Firefighters, by his side.
George was born and raised in Troy where he lived his entire life. George was the son of the late George T. Boone and the late Leila (Blair) Boone.
George absolutely loved the City of Troy and the people of Troy. He was known throughout the city, and was a beloved friend of countless people who lived or worked in the Collar City.
He had a happy and fulfilling life, despite the odds against him. George became a friend of Troy Firefighters and Police Officers when he was a young teenager, and that friendship lasted over 45 years.
He was a fixture at Troy Central Fire Station and Police Station. George hung out at the fire house running errands, having dinner with the firefighters, and establishing lasting friendships. George had a way of entering a room and bringing energy and laughter that was unmatched.
He had an unfiltered wit that was extremely funny, and lead to hilarious conversations and lasting memories.
George would be found at all the fire scenes and emergencies, trying to help the firefighters and police officers. He listened to his Troy Fire/Police scanner 24/7, along with rooting for his two favorite sports teams, the Red Sox and the Cowboys!
In 1989, his loyalty to the Troy Fire Department earned him the official City title of Honorary Troy Fire Lieutenant. In 2020 he was given a promotion by the Troy Fire Department to Honorary Captain. George was extremely proud of his Honorary Fire Captain position. It was his passion in life to be part of the TFD brotherhood. George is survived by his siblings, William T. Boone, Edward James Boone, and Delores M. Boone (Hill), William Hill; nieces, Samantha Ann (Boone) Giles, Tiffany N. Boone, Jennifer Mae Boone; nephews William T. Boone II, Timothy E. Boone, Nicholas W. Hill, Sam Hill, and Patrick Hill.
Many people were a part of George's life, along with Firefighters and Police officers. Some close friends and employers of George's that helped and loved him are Mary Genevive, Chris Ryan (Ryan's Wake), Dr. Frank Lanzillo, Kumi Tucker (Channel 13), Gi Gi and Betsy, Kathy and Cheryl (Pace Caregivers), Iris (Pioneer Bank), neighbors and friends, Kelly and Patty Ryan, Jim (Capt. JP) Amanda (TFD), Gino (Bella Napoli), Frank (Troy Post Office), Carmella Mantello (Troy Mayor), and the many political leaders in the city and county that recognized and appreciated George!
Special thanks to retired firefighter Mike (Zeke Moon) Fisher and his wife Patti, who George called Dad and Mom.
We thank everyone who took George under their wings, but in just as many ways, George had us under his wings with his uplifting presence when we needed it.
Hon. Capt. George Boone will be given a full department funeral. Wake and Funeral service will be held at Wynantskill Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Road, Wynantskill, on Friday, July 18, 2025. Calling hours 9 to 10:30 a.m. TFD Chaplain Tallman will have service at 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.

So sadden to hear this. George was a friend to all. Everytime I saw him, he would have a great smile and shout out a big hello. Everytime he saw me he always asked me if I was OK or needed help with anything. He was so kind. The Troy community lost a great guy. God grant him eternal life and give peace and comfort to his family and friends. George, you will be so missed. God bless.
