Theodore F. Meyers

Theodore F. Meyers, 80, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died one time, on August 1, 2025.

Ted was known for his quiet strength, love for family, dry humor, and quirky Ted-isms, like "died one time."

He was born August 16, 1944, to Glennis (Klingbeil) and Bob Meyers.

Ted also was preceded in death by wife, Jean (Mesteller). Ted and Jeanne raised two daughters, Liza (Scott) Heinig and Suzi (Jon) Morales, in Leipsic, Ohio. He was endlessly supportive and proud of his daughters, reminding Liza to change her oil regularly and inventing somewhat inexplicable games with Suzi.

Family and friends were joyful when Ted met and married Kathy (Siwa Poling) in 2006. Kathy benevolently tolerated his Ted-isms.

Ted also is survived by brother, Gene (Pat) Meyers; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Geil; stepsons, Todd (Michelle) Poling and Troy Poling; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

After graduating from Leipsic High School in 1962, Ted attended The Ohio State University before enlisting in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. Following his Naval service, Ted returned to his education, earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo. He owned and operated the Meyers Electric appliance store in Leipsic until he bravely embarked on a second career in midlife, as a sales representative for Enesco.

When Ted married Kathy, he moved to Perrysburg. From the Kroger store to the Caribbean, Ted was constantly by Kathy's side, traveling often and simply enjoying daily life. Ted could frequently be found working on a "project," and loved doing odd jobs and exchanging banter with Troy, one of the sons who became his through Kathy.

All are welcome to a visitation on Sunday, August 17, from 2:00–4:30 p.m., at the Walker Funeral Home, at 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, followed by a service at 4:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Monday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m., at the Sugar Ridge Cemetery, in Leipsic.

In lieu of flowers, Ted's family would appreciate donations to Putnam County Homecare & Hospice or the Leipsic First Lutheran Church.

"Doesn't get any better than this," was another oft-repeated Ted-ism, to which the reply was, "Not 'round here."

'Round here or anywhere else, they don't get any better than Ted.
